- Full-Service Bartender Course
This course offers training in bar operations and procedures common in full-service bars, along with techniques of pouring and mixing drinks. The course objective is employment as a bartender in a full-service bar.
The two-week course consists of 30 hours of behind the bar instruction and practice. Classes of no more than nine students meet three hours a day, five days a week for a total of 30 clock hours. Students may enroll for morning or evening classes.
Course Content
- The legal responsibilities of a bartender: California liqour laws and third party liability
- Responsible alcohol beverage service
- A workbook is now available in Spanish
- Customer I.D. checking and verification
- Job responsibilities: opening and closing procedures; daily routine common to most bar operations
- Pouring techniques: cocktails prepared in the mixing glass/shaker and blended drinks
- Drink preparation: drinks poured over ice, two-part high balls, cocktails prepared in the shaker, blender and freezer can
- Glassware identification: for use with mixed drinks, cocktails, and after-dinner drinks
- Use of the draft beer system, beverage flavor system (cobra-head) and ice machine
- Use of written and verbal abbreviations
- Types of mixes used in drink preparation: preparation of pre-mixes
- Material covered in Pour Man's Friend; a Guide and Reference for Bar Personnel, textbook and workbook
